Spent two nights at KL Journal. Bit of an issue on check in which was widely resolved and I have to say no complaints at all. Rooms are great, breakfast is more than decent and location is ideal. Pool is a cool spot but music was a bit too loud for older ears/early afternoon. Staff were, as we have found all over Malaysia exceptionally friendly, polite and eager to help with any queries.

Rooftop bar was a great experience with good views,music, relaxed atmosphere and good bar service by Haseeb who was very friendly and helpful. Overall the hotel room was above expectations, professional maintained and very good service for rooms and breakfast.

The Journal was a gem: friendly and professional staff, great breakfast buffet of Western and local cuisine. Very conveniently located for a 'cultural heritage' walking tour in the heart of KL. I can't praise the staffs' courtesy and professionalism enough: I left my rapid-charge phone charger and lead in the room. When I contacted reception, they confirmed I'd left it in the room. I asked Vincent, Guest Relations Manager, if he could post it to our hotel where we'd be at the end of our trip, on Langkawi Island. He said that wouldn't be a problem, and sure enough there it was awaiting my arrival a week later. Thank you so much Vincent!

Excellent except for the Breakfast

Just read a report from someone from Australia who supposedly stayed there at the same time as my Wife and I and was so incensed I had to reply. The room was not large but was adequate for our 8 day stay and was also well cleaned every day. Did not hear any noise from outside and in any case Bollywood is a long distance away, not likely to be heard through double glazing that cannot be opened. Really enjoyed the "Swimming Club" the staff friendly and welcoming, entertained many friends and family there. Biggest surprise was the cost of the alcoholic drinks, so reasonable ( drinks are very expensive in the Islamic country of Malaysia). Our only negative was the lack of organisation at breakfast.

Wouldn't stay again - hotel is run down and noisy

Stayed for 3 nights and what a disappointment from the website and reviews. Room was dirty, sheets/pillows stained and smelt dirty. Housecleaning comes at 430pm, right when you come back from exploring the city. The pool/ pool chairs were dirty. Pool food/drinks were expensive. You can't change the temp on the aircon in the room. The hotel is very noisy next to a construction site and can hear the 24/7 Bollywood restaurant playing music at 430am. We looked at all the hotels in the area from our window and wished we had booked elsewhere. What a disappointing stay. The hotel needs to be updated to match what the website reflects.
